Not only are there over 390,000 Connecticut residents struggling with hunger, but our soup kitchens and food pantries served by CT Food Bank have reported an average 30% increase in demand for their services. We have also learned that The USDA found CT is one of the largest increases in food-insecure households in the country.

We are proud to promote the good work CT Food Bank is doing and hope your efforts will make a difference to thousands of households this holiday season. North Haven Walk To Cure Diabetes

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) is holding a walk September 28th at Quinnipiac University, North Haven Campus from 8:30pm to 10:00am. This is a 3 mile walk to raise money for type 1 diabetes research. For more information, visit the JDRF website.

JDRF is a leader in setting the agenda for diabetes research worldwide, and is the largest charitable funder of and advocate for type 1 diabetes research. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.

Nearly 1,800 people, including parents of the top male and female scholar-athletes from approximately 200 schools across Connecticut, were there to be honored — in short, for getting it right.

Dr. Rich Diana, himself a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete 30 years ago at Yale, served as keynote speaker, and one can imagine that the room was filled with 18-year-old versions of Diana in all shapes and sizes, waiting to make a difference.

The Greater New Haven Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation holds its annual Dream Gala on Saturday May 7, 2011 at the Omni Hotel in New Haven starting at 6 o’clock.

The Dream Gala offers a magnificent evening featuring dinner, auctions, and entertainment with CounterPoint Big Band.  This year Gala honorees are the Diabetes Educators and Clinicians of the Yale Children’s Diabetes Center.  Performing in their honor will be special guest, season five American Idol semifinalist, Ayla Brown.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, founded in 1970, is the leading advocate of Type 1 Diabetes research; a disease that strikes suddenly and carries the constant threat of devastating complications.  The mission is constant: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.
