Quinnipiac, Connecticut Orthopaedics Partner for Teddy Bear Toss Night on January 12
HAMDEN, Conn. — Quinnipiac University Athletics and Connecticut Orthopaedics are partnering to benefit the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center on Friday, Jan. 12 during the Bobcats’ men’s ice hockey contest against Princeton.
There will be a teddy bear toss featured during the game’s first intermission, with all being donated to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
“Quinnipiac Athletics prides itself on our work not only in the classroom and competition, but in the community,” Director of Athletics Greg Amodio said. “We are very excited to partner with Connecticut Orthopaedics in what has become an initiative at hockey games across the country to benefit the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.”
Fans are encouraged to bring new or recently purchased teddy bears to be thrown on to the M&T Bank Arena ice after the first period of play. There is no limit on the number that fans can bring and all will be collected on ice and donated.
“We have a long-standing partnership of over 20 years with Quinnipiac, and it only made sense for us to partner on this as well.” Susan Bader, Connecticut Orthopaedics Chief Executive Officer, said. “We are delighted to sponsor this heart-warming initiative and provide an opportunity in a fun way to collect teddy bears for sick children and bring a bit of joy when they may not be feeling their best. We specifically chose CCMC as the charity because we have a treasured colleague whose little boy is receiving excellent care at their medical center as he bravely battles leukemia. We plan on this being the first of many teddy bear tosses with Quinnipiac!”
