Physical Therapy

Your rehabilitation works best when it’s not only effective, but convenient. Our Sports Therapy | Rehab program has state-of-the-art facilities in Branford, Fairfield, Guilford, Hamden, Milford, Orange, Shelton, Trumbull and Wallingford. Our dedicated staff has expertise in pre- and post-surgical rehabilitation, musculoskeletal injuries, sports medicine, and many other conditions.

Before we start any treatment, you’ll be evaluated by a Licensed Physical or Occupational Therapist. He or she will develop short- and long-term rehabilitation goals to measure your progress. Your therapist at Sports Therapy | Rehab works closely with you and your physician to develop a plan of care that combines therapeutic exercise with functional training and manual techniques. As your therapy progresses, we’ll reevaluate you as needed to make sure your goals are met.

Hello – my name is Kelly Corso. I’m a licensed athletic trainer with STAR Physical Therapy. Today I would like to tell you about our STAR Plus programs, STAR Plus Next Step and Star Plus Power and Fitness. The Next Step program was designed for those who have completed their formal physical therapy, but are not quite ready to work independently at home or at the gym. Our Power and Fitness program is geared towards athletes who are looking to move on to the next level after completing their formal PT. This program is to help bridge the gap where formal physical therapy end and sport-specific training begins. The Next Step program begins with an initial assessment to gain a baseline of strength and range of motion – similar to that of physical therapy. From there, a supervised exercise program is implemented to continue addressing the strength and flexibility needed for that patient. Power and Fitness begins with an initial assessment with an exercise program that addresses the deficits seen during the evaluation. Some of this includes self trigger point releases, dynamic stretching and strengthening. These programs were designed to address continued weaknesses and educate patients on how to correctly continue strengthening and stretching after they have completed their programs. These programs are run by licensed athletic trainers who work for STAR Physical Therapy. Collectively, with the physicians of COS and STAR physical therapists, we have designed these programs to help you get back to good health. Custom Solutions

Custom Orthotics

We offer custom orthotic inserts to correctly align your foot and ankle. They’re simply inserted into your shoes, replacing the factory-made bedding. Orthotics can be used to help a variety of sports injuries and other problems that cause foot pain, like flat feet or fallen arches, high arches, plantar fasciitis, and metatarsalgia. Orthotics may also help with knee, hip and back pain.

Custom Knee Bracing

We provide off the shelf, ready to use sport and orthopaedic bracing, as well as custom-fit DonJoy and Townsend knee braces. These braces are specifically designed for your musculoskeletal injuries, including sports injuries, osteoarthritis, chronic/repetitive use syndromes, ligament tears, tendon ruptures, sprains, and strains.

Work Hardening

Our in-house return to work program takes an interdisciplinary approach to rehabilitation using strength and conditioning techniques to progressively improve biomechanics, neuromuscular efficiency, cardiovascular endurance, and flexibility.

Labor intensive professionals like firefighters, correction officers, FBI agents, police officers, postmen, electricians, plumbers, construction workers, and more can benefit from this program.

“The ease to get x-rays, exam and MRI in one facility was easy. The entire patient experience was integrated and thoughtful.”
