Tendon Tears and Surgery - Michael Redler, MD

Video Transcript

I’m Dr. Michael Redler orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and hand surgery at the Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center. Tendons are those structures that attach muscle to bone and joint and allow for the motion within our body. Most complete tendon injuries will usually require surgery. Mild strains may be able to be treated conservatively. The good news is that techniques for repairing tendons are done as outpatients, are often done arthroscopically through portals or puncture wounds, or through minimally invasive techniques. This allows for a quicker recovery, often being able to return to normal and regular activity in a much quicker and shorter period of time.
