Mary Callis, PT, ATC, CSCS

Mary Callis has been a physical therapist at STAR since 1994. She graduated from the University of Connecticut with two BS degrees, becoming licensed as a physical therapy and athletic trainer. She also became certified as a strength & conditioning specialist, as well as being certified in dry needling & dry cupping. She is especially interested in manual therapy attending over 137 CE seminars or home study courses in orthopedic/ sports medicine topics. During her earlier years at STAR, she made custom orthotics & static hand splints. Prior to STAR she worked with orthopedics, sports medicine, geriatric and TMJ patients; as well as performing work site assessments for local industries and being the AT for the UCONN varsity volleyball team in the late 80’s. Last year she was awarded “Best in Patient Care” as one of the top 100 physical therapist in Connecticut by the American Health Council. Mary resides in Killingworth with her husband and two children and enjoys spending time with her family. She is an avid exerciser; golfs, plays volleyball, is a Girl Scout leader, a CCD teacher for her church, and a CPR instructor for basic, professional rescuer, and the AED.
