Connecticut Orthopaedics (CO) has been serving patients in the greater New Haven area for over 55 years. Our practice has merged with several surrounding orthopaedic groups over the past several years and has become the largest privately-owned orthopaedic practice in New England. Due to our quality of care and attentiveness to our patients, we are proudly the team of orthopaedic physicians for multiple colleges and high schools as well as have our own physical therapy centers. In addition to our orthopaedic service line, we have three MRI suites, (5) acute care orthopaedic walk-in centers and a surgery center in Branford.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated ability to perform radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation
- Experience in general radiography a must
- Experience specific to ortho a plus
- Effective communication skills, verbal and written, excellent interpersonal skills required to interact with patients
- Willingness to cross train into other functions, such as Medical Assistant or Front Desk receptionist
- Demonstrated physical agility and strength in order to assist patients with mobility and transport devices (crutches, walker, wheel chair)
- Demonstrate physical agility to assist with DME application
- Demonstrate mental aptitude and physical fitness to respond quickly to emergent situations
- Demonstrated understanding of EMR software and how to perform required tasks within the patient health record
- Ability to demonstrate understanding of COS’ safety initiative by strict compliance to all safety protocols and procedures.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Instruct and explain procedures to patients to alleviate anxiety and solicit cooperation Communicate calmly, compassionately, and professionally with all different types of patients including the elderly, ailing, handicapped, and young children.
- Position patients to obtain and affect the results specified for diagnosis
- Set equipment to obtain the best density, detail, and contrast of the area being imaged
- Practice radiation protection in accordance with established regulatory agency requirements
- Utilize equipment and report any equipment malfunctions, necessary adjustments or repairs
- Perform a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative
- Perform tasks in the Electronic Medical Record in a timely manner with absolute accuracy (i.e. – order for x-ray from physician)
- Assist patients in and out of wheel chairs; on and off the x-ray table
- Follow mandatory reporting procedures for any incident or serious event that did affect or potentially could have affected the clinical care of any patient.
- Maintain work area in a clean and orderly fashion. Monitor supply use and restock or request reordering of items as required
- Under physician’s direction, assist with administration of DME (booting, splinting, casting)
- Position requires willingness to work in multiple locations; schedule issued weekly
- Position requires having own transportation EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:**
Must be a registered technologist from an accredited school of Radiology * Must possess a Radiology Technologist license in the state of Connecticut
