WE ARE: Connecticut Orthopaedics (CO) and we have been serving patients in the greater New Haven area for over 50 years. Our practice has merged with several surrounding orthopaedic groups over the past several years and has become the largest orthopaedic practice in Connecticut having developed into a comprehensive musculoskeletal care network. Due to our quality of care and attentiveness to our patients we are proudly the team orthopaedic physicians for multiple colleges and high schools. In addition to our orthopaedic service line, COS has 3 acute care orthopaedic walk-in centers, staffed by a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, who enjoy a great deal of autonomy in their role as a provider, while at the same time have access to our orthopaedic surgeons. THE OPPORTUNITY: Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists is a growing healthcare practice based in the greater New Haven community with a strong commitment to providing excellent care and customer service to our patients, athletes and employer clients. We are seeking an experienced PA with the ability to read x-rays and manage acute injuries. This position offers a competitive hourly rate.

YOU ARE: Highly proficient in your role and responsibilities, able to manage multiple and shifting priorities to serve as a valued member of a team, highly organized in all aspects of your role, and are looking to add value to an innovative growing practice. Interested in serving in a dual capacity position for acute orthopeadic care. You are reliable, and accountable. You must have the following experience:

Responsibilities

  • Staff our acute orthopaedic walk-in clinics
  • Evaluate, treat and triage patient as appropriate
  • Provide coverage in one of our three sites Branford, Hamden, Orange
  • Operate and prove competency in multiple applications such as EMR and ancillary products
  • Communicate with orthopaedic physicians regarding care plans
  • Perform clinical hours on weeknights and weekends monthly as shifts are available
  • Serve as a team leader during shift, supervising front desk and radiology staff on location
  • Attend meetings, trainings as needed
  • Demonstrate willingness to be flexible

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Self-motivated and accountable to manage/direct patient care regardless of magnitude of injury
  • Solid time management and organizational skills to efficiently treat in a high-volume clinic
  • Passionate in self-improvement for professional growth to meet the values of our practice and enhance our level of service
  • Excellent communication skills to ensure all team members, patients and external parties are fully informed
  • Strong written communication skills for chart documentation and interaction with team members
  • Ability to provide knowledge transfer to other members of the team
  • Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of colleagues and employees

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

  • License to perform medical care as a Physician’s Assistant or APRN in the State of Connecticut
  • 1 year experience in orthopaedic care
