- Richard Diana, M.D., academic scholar and former professional football player, joined
Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists, P.C. in 1993. His unique combination of talent and
intelligence positions Dr. Diana as the specialist in Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic
Surgery and General Orthopaedics at Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists, P.C. A graduate
of Yale University, he received a B.A. degree, Cum Laude, in Molecular Biochemistry and
Biophysics. He received his M.D. degree from Yale University and fulfilled his general
surgery internship requirement at Yale-New Haven Hospital. His Orthopaedic Residency was
later completed at Yale-New Haven Hospital, followed by a Fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports
Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, with longtime Boston Red Sox
team physician Arthur Pappas M.D. Dr. Diana continued to work with Dr. Pappas and the
Boston Red Sox at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center after completing his
fellowship. Even after returning to Connecticut Dr Diana continued to work the Boston Red
Sox organization for six years.
- Dr. Diana has been very active with local high school and college sports. He has been
orthopedic consultant for Hamden, Shelton, Cheshire and North Haven High Schools since
1993. He has also been a consultant at Quinnipiac and Albertus Mangus Colleges. Dr. Diana
is currently a Clinical Instructor at Yale-New Haven Hospital and an attending physician
at Saint Raphael, Griffin and Milford Hospitals. He is board certified a member of the
AMA, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and American College of Surgeons. He has
also written and published articles in numerous medical and sports related journals.
- Dr. Richard Diana lives in Hamden, CT with his wife, son, and daughter.
