
- Ralph J. DePonte, M.D. is an attending surgeon at Yale-New Haven Hospital and Hospital
of St. Raphael. He is a Diplomate, American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a Fellow,
American College of Surgeons. His specialty areas at Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists,
P.C. are Joint Replacement and General Orthopaedics. Professional memberships include the
New Haven County Medical Association,Connecticut Medical Association, American Medical
Association, and the New Haven Medical Society.
- A Connecticut native, Dr. DePonte graduated from Notre Dame High School, West Haven, CT
and Yale University, New Haven, CT with a B.S. degree in Zoology. He earned his M.D.degree
from Yale University School of Medicine and completed both an internship and surgical
residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He also received his orthopaedic surgical training
at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he subsequently held the position of Chief Resident in
Orthopaedics from 1966-1967.
- Current and past academic appointments include Clinical Assistant and Associate
Professor, Surgery, Yale University School of Medicine; a Pre-Clerkship Tutor, Yale
University School of Medicine; and Instructor, School of Physician Associates, Yale
University.
- Dr. DePonte has spoken at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and for the
American College of Surgeons. He has written and published in the Journal of Bone and
Joint Surgery, Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, and for the Journal of
Pediatric Orthopaedics. He has also served as an orthopaedic surgical consultant for a
local hospital and area HMO.
- Married to Margaret Geelan, they are the parents of three children: Mark, Dominique and
Kristen.
